The Two Sergeants Moments Prior to the Attacker Was Tasered

One senior officer that leaped to the assistance of a partner that was assaulted by a knifeman received the King's Commendation for Courage.

Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he pressed a knife to the throat of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a driver following a road collision in the area in July 2023.

Brown knifed and cut both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.

"Officer stabbed," the constable was heard to say over his radio.

Officer-mounted and dashcam footage released by the police department depicted Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a hood up, approach to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade outstretched.

He ran into the officer who tripped and went down to the ground, before Sgt Ansell stepped in and struggled to restrain him to the floor even though being multiple times hit with the blade.

PC Wolstencroft Stopped the Attacker, Jacob Brown, with a Electric Weapon

PC Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and sought a safe opportunity, concluding the struggle to an finish.

Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "Please provide help on my neck here, I'm bleeding in the neck."

Sgt Ansell received two lacerations to his neck and more cuts to his arms and torso, whereas Sgt Foster experienced knife wounds.

Authorities reported Sgt Foster employed his hands to stop his fellow officer's hemorrhaging prior to medical personnel reached the scene.

The latest award arrives subsequent to the law enforcement team were granted departmental Courage Honors in October 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the area officer association in April 2024.

They further earned a Regional Courage Honor in July 2024.

"The efforts of all three officers eventually saved one another and ensured no civilians endured any harm."

Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, according to authorities.
