Tuchel Criticizes Home Crowd Support Following Dominant Win Over Wales.

Thomas Tuchel shared his sadness that the Three Lions team did not receive more support from the home crowd during their decisive friendly win against Wales on Thursday night.

Tuchel was satisfied to see his team showcase their winning momentum, with finishes from Rogers, Watkins, and Bukayo Saka inside the opening quarter deciding the match. But, he was unhappy with the mood at the national stadium.

“With one and a half training days to prepare against a drilled team and we excelled,” Tuchel remarked. “It could have been five goals ahead at half-time. We missed the fourth and fifth ones. There was little noise. We didn’t get any energy back from the crowd. Our team gave their all to win.”

“How much more can you provide in the first quarter? We didn’t let them get away. When you only hear just the Welsh supporters for 30 minutes, it’s disappointing because the squad deserved better encouragement today.”

“I stand by my words. We cannot do more than being three goals up in a derby. I hoped for a greater backing in periods where it is challenging.”

“After halftime, to cheer us on, there was a bit too much backing for the opposition. It could have helped us to regain energy, but that’s football and so be it.”

Squad Decisions Justified by Performance

Apart from potentially starting a dispute among supporters, the manager also created controversy by excluding Jude Bellingham and Foden from his squad. However the choice was validated by Morgan Rogers impressing again in the No 10 position and netting his first international goal.

“He is what he is,” Tuchel said. “He is a No 10 and he is fighting for his spot.”

Wales Manager Hopes for Lessons from Defeat

Craig Bellamy expressed hope that Wales, who host Belgium in a key World Cup qualifier on Monday, take lessons from their awful first-half display.

“This is why I wanted this friendly,” Bellamy commented. “I need to see our standing. What are our ambitions? What is our identity? Today fills me with motivation.”

Fitness Worry for Striker

Watkins was taken off at half-time after colliding with a goalpost and is a concern when England play Latvia in the Latvian capital in a qualifier on Tuesday.
